It has been years, that I basically do my weekly groceries at Trader Joes. Because I don’t tend to go at the same day and time, every time I step into the store, I ask myself when is the best time to shop there. My ideal scenario is when the store is mostly empty, with fresh produce just stocked, and I am in-and-out in 20 minutes. Oh, let me tell you, this is possible. My record is 18 minutes. According to my local trader Joes’ cashier the best time is in between 10-12pm on weekdays. Those times do not work for me, so I decided to do a little investigation and this is what I found:
Early morning on Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days, right when they open. The produce is fresh and it seems that some things will sell out for the day around 2 to 4 p.m., including perishable and nonperishable items.
That being said, I hit the store, once, on a Thursday at 9pm. A truck with produce had just arrived, they started stocking for the next day, it was just me and a handful of people in the store. Shopping late at night might not be ideal, but if you are a night owl, consider late night groceries. However, if you can, avoid at all costs Saturday mornings, Sunday at noon or any day before a big storm is coming!
