When I think of Retro Bathrooms, colors come into my mind – everything is mint, pink, yellow. I grew up in an apartment building in brazil with a yellow “retro” bathroom. My memories are the tiles were perfectly square and there was yellow everywhere, from the sink to the tub. With the years, bathrooms evolved to different styles. I am sure that in 10-20 years a blogger will criticize the ALL white bathrooms and kitchens that inundate American household.
Thankfully not everyone is boxed into one single style and now retro bathrooms have some space in the design world. The beauty of it is that you can go ahead and take risks with the colors you may love. Greens, Pinks and Yellows! My next (and thankfully last!) bathroom reno will be the guest bathroom and guess what? I am going to do it retro style! It will probably be white, black with some accent in antique brass gold.
Observe in the photos below, that square tiles were replaced in lieu for subway tiles, but some original details remain. Black tile borders and pedestal sinks. If well done, a retro bathroom can look very European stylish. It can be a nice accent on your house.
