It is that time of the year, were we change our flip flops and slip-ons for rain and snow boots. Like in most households I struggle to keep our mudroom neat. Just writing this words make feel a little out of touch – seriously, I don’t know what part of the word “mud” could imply that anything named after it would be close to neat or organized. Still, every fall, I go bananas trying to find a way, to organize the mudroom so my kids and husband (yeah – him too!) instinctively put their shoes, jackets, hats and gloves neatly away. Yeah right, so now, I am not just out of touch, I am a complete naïve lunatic! It doesn’t matter, coming up with organization strategies it is something that brings me comfort. As always I look on Pinterest for ideas. Here is a compilation of some of the best mudrooms I saw this week.
If you feel discourage because you don’t have a fancy space to call a mudroom, I say don’t. Any wall or tiny corner that you can put a few hooks, a bench or a chair can be magically used as a spot for shoes and coats landing. Just need to use your imagination!
At home we used one section on the playroom room wall. In one side, we added baskets, for each one of us containing, seasonal items. On the side of the bench, we created a storage for the non seasonal or not so much used – ski gloves/hats and scarfs.
